Accessing Resources
Library resources are available on-campus to all library visitors. Off-campus access is restricted to staff and students. From off-campus you will be prompted to login for all restricted library resources. These resources are designated by this graphic

Finding Resources
Resources at Coulter Library
Books - To find books and other items that are physically housed in Coulter library search the library catalog.
Articles - To find articles on a particular topic search the library research databases. Coulter Library has several general databases that cover multiple subjects or you can search a subject specific database. If you are searching for a particular journal, you can search our electronic journal listing page.
Newspapers - Coulter Library subscribes to several newspaper databases. These databases vary in content from geographic location to time period.
Multimedia - To find films, music, and other items that are physically housed in Coulter Library search the library catalog. The library also subscribes to several online multimedia databases.
Viewpoint Resources - Coulter Library has a wealth of resources that can help you in researching particular viewpoints. Here is a list of databases that are typically good starting points for this type of research.
Literary Resources - Coulter Library has a wealth of literary research resources. We have sections dedicated to literary books in our reference department, books written by and about authors in our circulating collection, and an extensive literary database that can provide you with a wealth of information about a particular author or work.
Can't find what you need?
ILL - Library staff can request resources from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. Visit the Main Circulation Desk to complete a request form or complete an online ILL form.
Local area library catalogs - You can search local library catalogs for library resources (ie. books, multimedia). Please note that online content is typically limited to on-site access and retrieval unless you have an affiliation with the library.
Worldcat - This database provides access to library catalogs from around the world. If you find a resource you would like to borrow, complete the "borrow from another library" form link available within each item record.
Citing Resources
The library provides many citation style resources to assist you in citing the sources you utilize for your research. The writing resources section in our Reference Department has several citation books and we also have a "How Do I Cite My Paper?" guide available online.

The following library services are available off-campus for students enrolled in SUNY Onondaga courses.
International Students
Multilingual and ESL Resources - Some of Coulter Library's subscription databases provide translation links, we have several films in our media department that have foreign language subtitles and/or dubbing, and we have ESL resources available. Please ask a librarian for more details.
