International Games Week @ Your Library

International Games Week @ Your Library

Coulter Library is celebrating International Games Week @ Your Library with a variety of activities the week of November 4.

Coulter Library and hundreds of libraries across the world will join the American Library Association (ALA), Nordic Game Day, and Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and L’Associazione Italiana Biblioteche in celebrating the popularity and educational, recreational, and social value of video and board games for International Games Week 2019.

All week we will have Giant Scrabble, Giant Boggle and a community puzzle available in the Library. During Makerspace open hours we will have Giant Jenga available near the Makerspace entrance (C141).

This Learning Circle will be scheduled in the Spring 2020 semester.

Fall 2019 Makerspace hours start Monday 8/26. The Makerspace will close for the semester at 1pm on Wednesday 12/4.

  • Mondays 11am - 1pm
  • Tuesday 2-4pm*
  • Wednesdays 11am - 1pm

*Audio-visual creation appointments available Tuesdays

Global Maker Day Challenges

Global Maker Day Challenges

Pick one or more challenges to complete then share it on social media using #OCCmakers and #GlobalMakerDay or stop into the Makerspace and show us your creation.The challenges are listed below.

A. Make a toilet paper roll functional.

B. Using TinkerCad, design a personalized keychain (don’t forget the hole for the key ring!).

C. Make something that does something using our bin full of low-tech items such as recyclables & supplies.

D. Fit yourself through a single index card.

E. Using only Legos, create one of the following:

  1. A Halloween inspired creation
  2. First initial of your name
  3. A bridge for a mini-figure to cross
  4. Blaze 
  5. A library inspired creation
  6. Your choice!

 If you successfully complete a challenge by Friday 11/1 you will be entered in to a raffle for a Google Play or iTunes gift card.

The OCC Student Makers Club is open to all OCC students. Fall 2019 semester meetings are scheduled for 11/14, 11/20, & 12/2 @ 11:15 in C141 (Makerspace).

Finals are just around corner and Coulter Library wants to help you get ready! Grab a snack and pet a dog. Play giant games and enter our raffle for prizes. Take some time to have fun, refocus, and rock the finals!

Be sure to stop by Coulter Hall Lobby on Wednesday, May 8 during college hour (11:15am - 12:15pm) to relax and enjoy yourself.

Turn your Lazer Card into a Library Card!

Borrow items from the library using your OCC Lazer card.  You’ll need to register for a barcode, but it only takes a minute!  Stop by the second floor Course Reserves counter or the first floor Checkout counter to register.  We have books, textbooks, DVDs, and more available for checkout.
